Well that’s a wrap folks! We have come full circle. The comic started the week of Halloween, 2013. So it’s only fitting that it ends the week of Halloween. I really can’t believe this is the last page… I’m happy, but also a little sad. It seems like I’ve been working on this comic forever, so to finally be finished is an unreal feeling. There were some bumps along the way, but I pushed through it and now I have my first book. So thank you to all who stuck with me on this little journey. I really hope you enjoyed it as much as I have. I will keep this site up and probably do a re-haul at some point. I’m also planning on posting an article about the aftermath of his project – once my head clears. But rest assured, there will be more content coming to this site, I just need to regroup. Besides that, next steps is to do a small print run of The Dead Have Issues! So check back often, as I’ll post updates here as they come. Again, THANK YOU to everyone that has read and supported this comic – it means a lot to me!
Roll credits! The last track of the comic goes to Waveshaper! The track is called “Our Time” and it’s off the album Exploration 84. The title reminds me of The Goonies, mainly because of the title. But it has that ‘end credits’ vibe to me, so it seemed fitting. It’s a pretty cool album, so if you like what you hear, check out more from Waveshaper. That’s it for the comic. Again, I really hope you enjoyed it and I’ll be back soon. I’ve got other projects that I’m working on and who knows… maybe someday there will be an Issue 4! Maybe. Ok, I’ll stop blabbing. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween! Don’t forget, you can always keep up with me on Twitter and Facebook. Cheers!
Here it is folks, the big climax – I hope you like it! I’m pretty happy with the colors on this page. I like bright colors! Weeeeeee! Can you tell it’s been a long month? Besides working on this comic, I’ve had a bunch of other projects going on too. One of which is another mini comic, a sequel if you you will. But I talk about that more at a later time. Seriously though, I can’t believe next week is the last page. Don’t worry, the blog will continue is some shape or form. But again, more on that later. So be sure to tune in next week, boils and ghouls, for an early Halloween treat – the conclusion of THE DEAD HAVE ISSUES!!
This week’s soundtrack comes from Hacking The Wave! The track is also called “Hacking The Wave” and it’s off the album The Dome. Wow, what can I say? This stuff is insane! It kind of reminds me a little bit of Ministry, but after they drank a shit ton of coffee and other stimulants! It’s pretty extreme and unique – just what I expect out of Japan! If you like what you hear, be sure to check out more! That’s it for now, see you next week for the final page! Thanks for reading – cheers!
We are getting down to the wire (pun intended) – there are only a few pages left of The Dead Have Issues! The next few weeks are going to be crazy busy, but I’m not letting anything get in the way of finishing this book. It’s really scary for me to be working on this week to week, I was hoping to have some buffer pages, but what are ya gonna do? The show must go on! So don’t miss out, tune in next week to find out what happens! The week of Halloween will be the final page!
This week’s soundtrack comes from one of my favorites, GOBLIN REBIRTH! It’s off their self titled album and the track is called “Evil in the Machine.” I can’t tell you how big of a GOBLIN fan I am! Long story short, Goblin Rebirth is a new incarnation of part of Goblin. Anyway, I don’t want to get into the history/drama of the band. I got to see Goblin perform live before they split into 2 bands, but I’ve been really stoked for Goblin Rebirth’s debut album, it’s awesome. End of story, go pick it up! That’s it for now, thanks for reading and I’ll see you next week – cheers!
As promised, a new page for your viewing pleasure! Or is would it be disgust? Either way, I hope you enjoy! It was another race to the finish line – on top of that, I’m starting to feel a bit sick. But I’m not going to let that stop me! There are only a few pages left! What could possibly happen next? Well, you’ll have to tune in next week to find out!
This week’s soundtrack comes from Anders Manga! This is the title track off of the album Hexed! It totally has that John Carpenter/Halloween vibe to it – and with Halloween just around the corner, I though it was a perfect match for this gory page! As always, if you like what you hear, be sure to check out more from Anders Manga. That’s it for now, thanks for reading and I’ll see you next week – Cheers!
Why hello there, long time no see! Hope I didn’t worry you! I know, I know… it was another long break. I won’t make any excuses, but in my defense, I’ve had a lot on my plate lately. What’s that? You don’t care? You just want comics? Well I hope this page makes up for my absence! It was pretty fun to draw, so enjoy! With that said, it appears Todd has finally ran into karma… and things don’t seem to be going very well. Plus, what’s up with that cat?!? Tune in next week to see what happens next! Yes, next week, not next month!
This week’s soundtrack comes from Nemix! The track is called “Under Enemy Control” and it’s off The Planet. I’m pretty new to Nemix, but I really like what I’ve heard so far. I always love when music is able to combine a dark and eerie tone, but still make it upbeat! I checked out a few more songs on The Planet and it’s great stuff. If you like what you hear, be sure to check out more from Nemix! That’s it for now, thanks for reading and I’ll see you back here next week! Cheers!
Wow, page 70! I know it’s been bumpy lately with posting, but I still can’t believe it’s page 70 already! My plate has been pretty full lately, so again, I apologize for not posting every Wednesday, but as time allows, I will continue to post. With that said, there are only 5 pages left of The Dead Have Issues! That’s right, 5 pages! I was thinking of taking a few weeks and trying to get the last pages completed, that way I can post them on time and there won’t be such big gaps between pages. I could possibly even post twice a week, gasp! Anyway, be sure to check back often, the grand finale is on it’s way!
This week’s soundtrack comes from one of my favorites, Dance With The Dead! The track is called The Poison (reprise). Man, I love these guys, so great! I could go on and on about how rad these guys are, but just take a listen. Do yourself a favor and go buy some music from them, you won’t be disappointed! That’s it for now, thanks for reading – cheers!
Well it must be some kind of a miracle that I got this page done. One, it’s a pretty heavy page, so it took me a little longer to finish. But the real kicker is that my computer froze during coloring, so I had to re-due a lot of work. Just a reminder, save often kids! Anyway, I powered through and here it is! There are a lot of heavy drawing pages coming up, so it might take me longer to draw. With that said, I probably won’t post a new page next week. It’s my wife’s Bday (Happy Birthday!), so I probably won’t have time to get a page done. But rest assured, I’ll be back with a new page soon!
This week’s soundtrack comes from Night Runner! The track is called “Invaders” and it’s off the album Starfighter. I love the pace of this track, there’s almost a sense of anxiety to it, but it still retains a haunting undertone. Very cool stuff! If you like what you hear, be sure to check out more from Night Runner! That’s it for now, thanks for reading and check back soon – cheers!
I’m back in the saddle! Well, at least for now. I didn’t want to take such a long break, but paying work has to come first. With that said, it felt good to be back at the drawing board! I’m going to aim to get back on some kind schedule again (as long as freelance work doesn’t swamp me down again). But as a heads up, there may be times I’m unable to post do to work. Anyway, I’m going to shoot to have another page up next week, so be sure to check back!
This week’s soundtrack comes from Let Em Riot! The track is called “Traces” and it comes off of the NewRetroWave compilation titled Magnatron. It’s really cool, kind of chill, track. It also has an ambiance that feels like it’s the calm before a storm (wink, wink). It almost has a cinematic video game vibe to it, anyway, super cool and worth checking out more! That’s it for now, thanks for reading – cheers!
Sorry for missing last week, but I’ve been swamped lately. With that said, I really appreciate everyone’s patience. However, I am thinking of taking a break so I can get caught up. I hate missing a post, but I don’t want to rush the comic. We are coming up on the big finale and I really want to put some time into the artwork. I’m going to try and post a new page next week, but I may take 2 weeks off to play catch up. Anyway, I really appreciate all the support, thank you!
This week’s soundtrack comes from Tokyo Rose! The track is called “Tokyo Burnout” and it’s off of New Retro Wave’s 80’s Dream Compilation – Vol 3. Totally awesome stuff and a lot of fun to listen too! Speaking of fun, be sure to check out the movie KUNG FURY on YouTube! It’s awesome, free and features a song from Highway Superstar – a big supporter and friend of The Dead Have Issues! While you’re at it, head over and give him some love too! That’s it for now, thanks for reading – cheers!
Another photo finish! I really cut this one close, but I think it came together pretty well. Hal is a fun character, he always puts me a good mood when I get to draw him or write dialog. Anyway, keepin’ it short this week – lots to do! Still planning on posting next week, but it all depends on how the rest of the week goes. As always, I will keep you posted on Facebook!
This week’s Soundtrack comes from TWRP (Tupper Ware Remix Party)! It’s called “Prismatic Core” and it’s off the 2nite EP. I’ve never heard TWRP before, but I could just be late to the party… aaanyway, I love the name and the music. There’s a lot of tracks that seem to have a retro video game vibe going on – really great stuff! If you dig what you hear, be sure to check out more from TWRP! That’s it for now, thanks for reading and I’ll see you back here soon – Cheers!
I’m back (again)! Sorry for the short break, but as I’ve said, things have been busy. I’ve recently made the transitions into full time freelancing, so my schedule has been pretty hectic lately, but in a good way! I’m planning to post next week, but after that things could get sporadic. However, the plan is to stick to the schedule. But I will keep you all posted if another break needs to happen. I haven’t mentioned this, but we are in the home stretch! There’s roughly 10 pages left our story! Hard to believe it, but yes, this will be the final issue of The Dead Have Issues and it will conclude this story. Will there be a sequel? Only time will tell, but for now, don’t miss out on the big finale!
This week’s soundtrack comes from 20SIX Hundred! The track is off of the Karate King Presents: The Annihilator compilation. This is a pretty rad track off of a pretty rad comp! I mean come on, Karate, Synth, Retro… Annihilators! Check it out! That’s it for now, thanks for reading and I’ll see you back here next week! Cheers!
The Dead Have Issues will be back next week on May 20th, 2015!
If you couldn’t guess who the mysterious figure from last week was, well it’s Hal! Do you remember Hal? We haven’t seen him since Page 17 way back in Issue 1! I’m pretty stoked to have Hal back in the story, he’s really a fun character. Anyway, I got this page done by the skin of my teeth, it was a pretty crazy weekend with the convention and all. The new pages are fun, but there’s a lot to draw and color. Ok, enough rambling, tune in next week as our story continues!
This week’s soundtrack comes from Danger Mode! The track is called “Road Rage” and it’s off the album Activation. I had a hard time choosing a track to share with this page, there are so many good ones! I will try to share another Danger Mode track down the road, but definitely check it out – for real, this is a great album! That’s it for now, thanks for reading and I’ll see you back here next week – Cheers!
I know I say this every time, but this page was really fun to draw! It really was! I was a little nervous when I sketched it out – I basically had to create this entire page in a day, last week really got away from me. But in the end, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Poor Mitch… he didn’t make it to long. Originally Mitch had a bit of a bigger role, but I’ve recently done some rewrites and Mitch got the axe. With that said – who could this mysterious savior be?? Tune in next week to find out!
This week’s soundtrack once again comes from GosT! This track is off of his new album Behemoth and it’s called “Genesee Avenue”. I’ve really become a big fan of GosT, his music is dark, but has so much energy. This new album is super rad too! It has remixes from some of my other favorite artists Perturbator and Dance With The Dead – I highly recommend checking this album out! That’s it for now, thanks for reading and I’ll see you next week – Cheers!
This was a fun page to draw; lot’s of different elements. Not sure why, but Mitch is really fun to draw and I always like drawing trees and zombies. As promised, things just won’t let up for out heroes in this issue… and there’s more to come! I’ve really got my work cut out for me with these upcoming pages. It will be challenging, but still a lot of fun. Will our rag tag crew finally make it to the Hal’s? Will they be able to stop Todd and his army of the undead? Tune in next week as our story continues!!
This week’s soundtrack comes from Cluster Buster! The track is called “Opposing The Decomposing” and it’s off the album Knee-Deep In The Dead. This album is pretty rad, it really has that old school Italian Zombie flavor to it. Every track sounds like it could have been ripped right from a Lucio Fulci flick! If you’re a fan of this style, definitely check it out! That’s it for now, thanks for reading and I’ll see you back here next week – Cheers!
I’m back! Thanks for being so patient, like I said in my last post, things have pretty nuts lately. I’m hoping to stay on track with upcoming posts, there’s so much action to come and I don’t want to disrupt it. Anyway, as you can see, Todd has pretty much jumped ship into crazy person town! Things are beyond heating up, they’re in the fire now! Tune in next week to see what happens next!
This week’s soundtrack comes off of the new John Carpenter tribute album simply called Carpenter! This track is from SHIO-Z and it’s called “No Bloody Trust”. Now it’s no secret that I’m a huge Carpenter fan both on film and musically. I just recently picked up Carpenter’s Lost Themes album and this is a great accompany piece. This is an awesome tribute album with some of today’s greatest Retro/Synth artists taking part – I highly recommend picking it up. That’s it for now, again thanks for all of you patients and understanding. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you back here next week!
UPDATE: There will be a new page on April 15th, 2015! Thank you for your patience!
Wow, Page 60 – another big milestone! I’ve got to say, it feels pretty good to have that much accomplished. Not to mention it’s the return of the News Crew (if you forgot, they first appeared on Page 19)! With that said, I unfortunately have to take another (hopefully short) break. Things have been pretty crazy lately, and without going into detail, I need to focus on my portfolio – I’ve hit a little bump in the road. Rest assured, I will return in full force! So check back soon, as there’s more action packed pages to come in The Dead Have Issues!
This week’s soundtrack is a new one from Betamaxx called “Take Off” – it’s from the new album Plug & Play! I’m really digging it so far and there’s a lot of other cool tracks. The album is upbeat and has a lot of range – highly recommend checking this out. That’s it for now, I’ll be back soon and with more big announcements. Don’t forget, you can always keep up with me on Facebook and Twitter! Thanks for reading – Cheers!
And we’re back! The studio went well, we ended up tracking 11 songs in total, but it was pretty exhausting. The songs will be going on a 7 inch split and the others on a new full length. Once they’re made available on line I’ll post a link. Between daylight savings and a small break, getting back in the saddle to draw was a little rough, but I think the page turned out well – hope you enjoy it!
This week’s soundtrack, once again, comes from Perturbator! The track is called “Raw Power” and it’s off the album Dangerous Days. Now this isn’t the first time I’ve shared a Perturbator track (probably won’t be the last either), so it should come as no surprise that I’m a big fan. I got this album when it came out and it gets pretty heavy rotation – I highly recommend picking it up if you’re a fan! That’s it for now, see you here next week and thanks for reading – Cheers!
I wonder if I could have used the word ‘shit’ a few more times on this page? Hopefully you got a chuckle out of it. I know everything is really heating up, but I need to take a break next week, so there won’t be a post. I’m going into the studio to record an album with my band and there’s just not enough time to draw. I don’t want to spread myself too thin on recording or the comic. But don’t worry, I’ll be back with a new page the following week!
Speaking of music, this week’s soundtrack comes from Darknous! The track is called “Seraph’s Blood” and it’s from the ep Outrage. I just recently discovered Darknous, but I’m enjoying everything I’ve heard so far. He’s really nailed the unsettling nature of old horror themes while combining it with modern electo melodies. If you like what you hear, be sure to check out more from Darknous! That’s it for now, thanks for reading and I’ll see back here March 11th! Cheers!
The guys have finally made it to the gates, though it doesn’t look like they’re out of harm’s way. The stakes will continue to be raised, so tune in next week to see if Todd is friend or foe (I think you can guess the answer). On another note, I forgot to mention last week that I did a little interview with some other creators and talked about Webcomics. If you’d like to give it a read, head over to Comics: Caffeinated and check it out – and a big Thanks to Michelle for getting in touch!
This week’s soundtrack comes from Preqwal! The track is called “Vigilante” and it’s off of The Gold E.P. I think what I like about this track is the constant crescendo/intensity, which works well with this page as Hero and Villain collide! As always, be sure to check out more from Preqwal. That’s it for now, thanks for reading and I’ll see you next week – Cheers!
This was a fun page to draw! It gets me excited to draw some of the upcoming pages. Through out the book, I’ve been trying to get a ‘cinematic’ feel to the panels. Some I like better than others, but it’s always fun to try and come up with cool ‘camera’ angles and shots. Anyway, it feels good to draw Eddie and Philthy again. I know it’s only been like 5 pages of not drawing them, but I miss the little guys. Not to mention they’re finally getting out of the cemetery – or are they? Mwahaha… ha… *cough*.. ha… *cough*… ok, ok… just tune in next week to find out!
Well I’m sure Todd will only use this power for good… yup. I’ll let your imagination run wild with what’s to come, but let’s just say Todd and Necromancy probably aren’t a good combination. I’m keeping it short this week, but tune in next week as there’s a lot more undead action to come!
Our music pick this time comes from Irving Force. The track is called “Meat Grinder City” and it’s off the Undercover EP. I believe Irving Force is pretty new, this just came out in January. It’s my first time hearing him and I’ve got to say, color me impressed! I love the dark and action paced theme of the music. If you like what you hear, be sure to check out this EP. That’s it for now, thanks for reading and I’ll see you back here next week – Cheers!
As promised, things are getting crazy in our story and they’re only going to get crazier – like bananas! I wasn’t sure how this page would turn out when I wrote it, though I knew it would be a doozy. After I penciled it I was still unsure, but in the end, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Now, if you’ve been keeping track, all of Todd’s goons are now … um… indisposed. Speaking of Todd – I wonder where he is during all of this? Tune in next week to find out!
This week’s music pick comes from Dan Terminus – the track is called “Fathom Wanderers” and it’s off the album The Darkest Benthic Division. I love this track, the way it fades in and then kicks it up a notch with an unsettling upbeat jam! It really melds well with this page. If you like what you hear, be sure to check out more from Dan Terminus. That’s it for now, I’ll see you back here next week! Thanks for reading – Cheers!
Things are not looking to good for this guy. Apparently it’s bad to touch a meteor from the unknown? Also, jeez, is Todd a dick or what? Anyway, I cut it close with this page, I went and saw Billy Idol on Monday – which is when I usually do a lot of coloring. But, I pulled through and got it done! Oh, and yes, Billy Idol was awesome! It was just him and Steve Stevens doing an acoustic set in a small club! Pretty damn cool.
Speaking of music, this week’s pick comes from TCR – the track is called “Monster Squad” and it’s off of the album Wrath to Ruin. This album is pretty rad and there are a lot of cool tracks. The release from 30 Floor Records (vs the original release) seems to have some extra tracks on it (this one included), so be sure to check it out! That’s it for now, tune in next week as our story heats up even more! Thanks for reading – cheers!
Taking a short break! NEW Pages coming in January 2015!
Page 50! This is a big landmark for me. When I started this thing 50 pages seemed so daunting, but here we are. This is also the last page/finale of Issue 2. I’m still a bit flabbergasted that we’re already at the end of this Issue, but I can’t wait for Issue 3! I mean we’ve got undead mutant cats, creepy chipmunks, more ghouls and a bunch of meat heads running around with a Meteor – how could you not be excited?! With that said, I will be taking a bit of a break. Like your favorite shows, just think of this as a break between Seasons. However, I am going to try and keep it as short as I can. It could be just a couple of weeks, but it could be towards the end of the month after Holiday chaos. But rest assured, we will be back – hopefully with some TDHI merch too (stickers, shirts, etc). So stay tuned!
This week’s Music Pick is from Night Runner and the track is called “Almost There” from the album Starfighter. I believe Night Runner is fairly new (this album came out in November) but I already love what I hear! This track is upbeat and urgent, it gives me the sense of ‘so close, yet so far’ – perfect for this page! If you like what you hear, check out more from Night Runner; Starfighter sounds like a solid album. That’s it for now, I’ll see you after the break. If you aren’t already, follow me on Facebook and Twitter for updates! See you soon and thanks for reading – Cheers!
